22 die in kombi accident

Twenty-two people died when a Toyota Quantum commuter omnibus collided with a truck along the Bulawayo-Beitbridge Highway Tuesday night.

Police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Wednesday morning that the accident occurred at around 10 pm on Tuesday at the 27km peg along the road near Thandweni Store.

The Toyota Quantum vehicle had 21 passengers on board and collided head-on with a DAF truck which had one passenger on board.

Nyathi did not say which driver was wrong or how the accident occurred. He said the injured were admitted to United Bulawayo Hospitals.

George Chigova Dies. Former Dynamos and Warriors goalkeeper George Chigova has died.
He was 32. Chigova died of a suspected heart attack after he collapsed on Wednesday morning.

Chigova was in July diagnosed with a heart condition and spend some time in hospital. The former Warriors goalkeeper had just recently returned to training with SuperSport. Chigova’s death comes just days after former Warriors coach Rahman Gumbo collapsed and died in Botswana. Read More
