Award-winning rapper,Sjava, has asked South Africans to be vigilant about someone who is impersonating him on social media. Real name Jabulani Hadebe, Sjava has just over 70k followers on Facebook while his impersonator boasts a whooping 1 million followers.
In a video he posted a few days ago, Sjava wrote: “Sanibonani please help me share this video about the fake Facebook page yalomuntu ozenza mina. That is not my account siyabonga. (Please help and share the video of a person impersonating me)’ . The former Gugu noAndile and Zone 14 actor said that the page was problematic because it has over 1 million followers.
Once you have over a million followers, it is easy to lure people and pretend that page belongs to me. I have been trying for years to have that page deactivated but I am not winning. This person who is pretending to be me is busy selling the idea that that page is mine. He keeps posting things without my approval and I don’t know the owner,” said the Umama hitmaker.
Sjava said the sad part was that he watched helplessly how the owner of that page was posting things he did not agree with or approve of. “It will be easy to deceive people using my name. People will fall for it and I will be looked at as a struggling artist who lives off giveaways.
South Africans help me get this page removed, I have tried my best but have failed,” he said. Sjava began his acting career in 2005, starring in several drama series and films including uGugu no Andile in 2009 before venturing into music.
