DJ Black Coffee spotted for the first time since accident – VIDEO

Grammy-award-winning South African DJ, record producer, and songwriter, Black Coffee has been spotted for the first time at a public appearance since news of his flight accident last month. The DJ appeared alongside one of his sons at the State of The Nation (SONA) address in Cape Town on 8 February.

The Mzansi DJ whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumalo was injured while en route to Argentina.

In pictures posted on social media, Black Coffee and his son Anesu were seen sitting in the crowd in the Cape Town City Hall.

Wearing a neckbrace, the 47-year-old muso donned dark shades and a black suit. His son whose mom is the DJ’s estranged wife, Enhle Mbali wore a black and white outfit and neatly braided cornrows.

The father-and-son were seated behind Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and his wife Carla.

It’s unclear in what capacity the DJ attended the event.

The appearance marks the Black Coffee’s first public appearance since his flight accident in early January.

According to the DJ’s representatives, he had been injured en route to Argentina for a gig.

MailOnline has reported that “severe turbulence” on board his flight was the reason behind Coffee’s injuries.

A statement from Mute, a club where the Coffee was expected to perform, read: “Dear Argentinian fans, Black Coffee regrets to inform you that as a result of severe air turbulence on his private plane from Florianopolis to Mar del Plata, he had to make an emergency landing at Montevideo Airport.

“He suffered severe blows to his body. At this moment, he is at a clinic in the same city under observation.”

The Grammy-winning star is known to travel via private jet to his music gigs around the world.
