Denise Zimba has revealed intimate details of her marital struggles with estranged husband Jakob Schlichtig, following his demand for the return of their two children to Germany. The couple, who wed in a lavish ceremony in April 2022, have since separated, leaving Zimba to care for their daughters.
According to reports from Sunday World, Zimba attributes the breakdown of their marriage to Schlichtig’s infidelity and neglect of familial responsibilities. In court documents, Zimba expressed how Schlichtig’s lack of support for her and the children contributed to her emotional distress.
“He neglected his responsibilities to me and the kids,” Zimba disclosed in the affidavit. “He only allocated 2% of his energy to the children and refused to prioritize me,” she continued, citing instances where he prioritized trivial matters, such as taking his cat to the vet, over assisting her.
Zimba also accused Schlichtig of emotional abuse, alleging that he demeaned her financially and belittled her abilities as a mother. She detailed instances where he purportedly engaged in extramarital activities, including masturbating while messaging other women.
In her defense against returning to Germany with the children, Zimba highlighted her unemployment status and her mother’s role in assisting with childcare in South Africa. She emphasized the lack of support from Schlichtig and his family in Germany, claiming they made minimal efforts to help her during her stay there.
While asserting her stance on the custody issue, Zimba stated that she permits Schlichtig to visit their children whenever he is in South Africa. This gesture stands in contrast to her reluctance to relocate them to Germany, where she claims there is no adequate support system for their care.
Throughout the affidavit, Zimba painted a picture of marital discord exacerbated by Schlichtig’s alleged misconduct and lack of support, underscoring her commitment to safeguarding her children’s welfare amidst the ongoing legal dispute.
