Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, renowned for her role as the founder of the Crown Gospel Awards and as a beloved presenter on Ukhozi FM, has passed away. The news was confirmed by her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, who shared that she died in the early hours of Monday at Parklands Hospital.
In a heartfelt statement, Bishop Nkambule expressed gratitude for the prayers, love, and support the family received throughout Zanele’s illness. He requested privacy as the family navigates through this difficult time.
Zanele’s health had been a concern since April 21, when she fell ill and was unable to complete her broadcast of *Eshilo* due to voice difficulties. Her colleague, Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu, stepped in to cover for her during this period.
Subsequently, Zanele’s daughter Nonjabulo disclosed to TshisaLIVE that Zanele had undergone minor surgery to address shortness of breath. Bishop Nkambule later revealed that Zanele had been battling lung cancer.
Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule’s passing is a significant loss to the South African media and entertainment community, where she was highly regarded for her contributions and charismatic presence.
