Jamaican reggae legend Burning Spear announces concert date in Zimbabwe

Jamaican reggae icon Burning Spear has officially confirmed his highly-anticipated return to Zimbabwe, with a live concert scheduled for October 18, 2024, at the Glamis Arena in Harare. During a live virtual interview with ZBC Classic263’s Terrence Mapurisana, the legendary musician expressed his excitement, saying, “I man love Africa… I will go where my fans want me to go universally and respectfully.”

Burning Spear’s latest album, No Destroyer, which received a Grammy nomination, has been embraced by fans in Zimbabwe, particularly with the hit single “Mommy” topping the charts on Classic263. Reflecting on his music’s enduring appeal, he attributed his success to the unwavering support of his fans across the continent. “I do it for the fans. Certain African countries have supported me for so many years,” he shared, emphasizing the connection he feels with his audience.

Promising an unforgettable concert experience, Burning Spear plans to perform a mix of both old and new hits, including tracks from his latest album. “I man will be in Zimbabwe to give the people their share. The Spear and the Burning band will be there,” he assured fans.

With a remarkable career spanning over five decades, Burning Spear boasts 14 Grammy nominations and two wins, showcasing his deep connection to African heritage and the teachings of pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey. His other nominated albums include classics like Resistance, People of the World, and Rasta Business.
