In a candid interview with *Rolling Stone*, Lil Wayne revealed a surprising struggle: he often has trouble remembering his music. The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, shared that despite his prolific career and creative success, he frequently forgets details about his past work, including some of his most iconic albums.
Wayne admitted, “God blessed me with this amazing mind, but would not give me an amazing memory to remember this amazing s***.” He described his memory issues, noting that albums like *Tha Carter III*, *Tha Carter II*, and *Tha Carter IV* hold “no significance” for him due to his memory loss.
“You could lie, you could ask me [about] such and such song, I wouldn’t even know what we are talking about,” Wayne explained. He further admitted, “I don’t even know if [2008’s] *Tha Carter III* came out. That’s how much I don’t know.”
Wayne views this as part of what he calls the “curse part of the gift and the curse,” suggesting that while his mind is creatively gifted, it cannot retain detailed memories of his work. The rapper has released 13 studio albums since 1999, with his next, *Tha Carter VI*, on the horizon. Despite his struggles with memory, Wayne continues to remain active in the music industry.
Recently, Wayne’s frustrations were evident during his “Welcome To Tha Carter” tour. In Los Angeles, he abruptly ended a show after just 30 minutes, reportedly due to dissatisfaction with the crowd’s energy. He expressed his frustration with the audience, saying, “We appreciate it, but we ain’t about to be bending over backward for these folks. We work too hard for this s***.”
This incident followed a pattern of Wayne’s occasional on-stage frustrations.
