TelOne Zimbabwe, the state-owned telecommunications company, has announced its formal status as a Starlink reseller, a significant development for the country’s connectivity landscape. This announcement follows the recent directive from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) that requires all Starlink agents, dealers, and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to obtain government approval.
POTRAZ granted Starlink Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd two licenses earlier this month: a telecommunications license for network services and a national Internet Services Provider license. This licensing allows Starlink to deliver internet services across Zimbabwe using its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network.
In a statement, TelOne expressed that its new partnership with Starlink will enable the company to enhance its offerings and provide modern connectivity solutions. “The Starlink satellite internet solution is designed to deliver high speed, low latency internet access, including to the most remote parts of the country,” the company stated.
With TelOne’s addition, the list of Starlink resellers in Zimbabwe now includes Paratus, Aura, Frampol, and Dandemutande, marking a new chapter in improving internet access throughout the nation.
