A 31-year-old woman employed as a security guard in Bulawayo was allegedly raped while on duty by her supervisor.
It is alleged that on the 29th of December 2022, the female security guard was deployed to guard a local company when she was visited by the accused on the pretext that he is monitoring guards on duty.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Bulawayo Spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident saying the accused Anderson Mkwananzi who is employed as a supervisor at a local security company was on patrol when he sexually assaulted the victim.
“We have arrested Anderson Mkwananzi for raping a co-worker who was deployed on the 29th of December to safeguard a local company. During the night the accused visited the victim under the pretext that he was doing some assessment. He raped the victim once and a report was later made to police. We lament job-related sexual harassment and call upon the public to respect women at all times,” he said.
This case comes barely a month after a manager with a local confectionery company was arrested over allegations of sexually harassing several female subordinates.
