The government is fulfilling its pledge of leaving no one and no place behind in the development matrix, with a section of the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway destroyed by rains last year having been rehabilitated and re-opened for traffic, much to the delight of residents and motorists.
Matabeleland North Provincial Roads Engineer, Xolani Ncube gave an insight into the progress made so far at the wash away point.
“The contractor Drawlink Civil Engineers has just finished the surfacing works on the point that was affected and he has also finished gabions to protect the slope. Outstanding works are ancillary works that is a lined drained. This section has been opened to traffic,” said Engineer Ncube.
The road is strategic for business as it links the resort city with the airport, Kazungula border, and Victoria Falls border post.
