The annual Zim Link Up festival will kick off on Sunday in Birmingham, the United Kingdom with a star-studded line-up of some of Zimbabweans finest performers.
The two-day festival, which is being sponsored by Diaspora Insurance, is headlined by the trio of Freeman, Takura, Killer T, Ex-Q, and Nutty O, among others.
The duo of Ex Q and Nutty O will be making a return after having performed at the event last year.
The event which has been running successfully for the past seven years has promoted local artists as well as gifted musicians in the diaspora.
Organisers of the event are expecting another memorable edition with tickets for the show having already been sold out. The show is being promoted by Status 100 and Kivo Santana.
“In terms of preparations, everything is going very well. All the artists, apart from one as well as the band members arrived ok Thursday and Friday respectively and they are looking forward to the show,” said Deejay Kojo of Status 100.
“As it stands right now all the tickets have officially been sold out which is a great which is great for our Zimbabwean artists. We had set out to put the best line-up when we planned this event last year.
“We have been running this event as a festival for the last six years and for the last two years as a concert and we are very happy with the progress. A lot of credit has to go to the artists because they are the ones that put out the music for the fans and this is why they have been able to sell out a 3500-capacity venue. This is the same venue that we used when we hosted Davido, Uncle Waffles and DJ Maphorisa last year in March and this is why we wanted to give Zimbabwean artists this platform,” he said.
