A 52-year-old Harare man has appeared in court charged with raping his 19-year-old daughter-in-law. The man, who allegedly claimed it was a way of initiating her into their family was dragged to court this Wednesday.
Kenias Tazira is alleged to have forced himself on his 19-year-old daughter-in-law once and threatened her with death if she disclosed the act to anyone.
However, the complainant told a friend and the two reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused person.
He was remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, 31-year-old Nomatter Manuwere, who allegedly teamed up with his accomplices to steal a car from a police station, also appeared in court on charges of theft of a motor vehicle.
It is alleged that the police impounded Manuwere’s car at a crime scene where the accused had fled and during the night the accused went to the police station and stole the car.
He was remanded in custody.
