Man arrested for r@ping brother’s teen stepdaughter

A 65-year-old man, Waheed Kareem, has been arrested and is currently detained at the Oyo State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

An investigation by our correspondent revealed that Kareem, an indigene of Abeokuta in Ogun State, alongside his 60 years old younger brother, Rasheed (now at large), assaulted his step-daughter at Olude, Apata in Ibadan, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo.

It was further learnt that the teenager (name withheld), who is a JSS one student of a government-owned secondary school in the LGA, was earlier severely abused by her biological father from the age of two years old.

An impeccable source said the incident took several days before the case was eventually reported to the police.

Narrating her ordeal, the victim said she started experiencing sexual abuse at the age of two when her biological father started having carnal knowledge of her after her mother, Abiodun Kareem, moved out of her matrimonial home leaving her with her father. She added that the sexual assault continued till she was eight years.

She said it was easy for her father to carry out the vicious act because they were staying alone.

While explaining how the cat was let out of the bag, the victim said her maternal grandmother paid her an impromptu visit and she told her her ordeal for six years.

The case was then reported at Isabo Police Station in Abeokuta, Ogun State and the father was arrested and kept in custody for four years awaiting trial but unfortunately died in prison.
