Chiadzwa communities benefit from ZCDC’s CSR programmes

Surrounding communities in the Chiadzwa area of Manicaland Province have commended the developmental thrust adopted by government-owned Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) in uplifting their living standards by way of their corporate social responsibility programmes.

A local school benefited from the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, with ZCDC having constructed two classroom blocks.

Chiwadzwa Primary School Head, Mrs Chishamiso Elizabeth Chinyenze told the ZBC News, “This school since its establishment was never developed and all the classrooms are the ones which were built since its formation. ZCDC’s intervention has come in handy and at the moment they are building new blocks and the learning standards have greatly transformed.”

Headman Phyllis Chiadzwa is grateful that ZCDC is committing resources to enhance community development.

“As the local leadership, we acknowledge the support we have gotten from ZCDC in building local infrastructure. They have built new classroom blocks. They have paved so many roads and employed many of our locals.”

Chief executive officer of the Chiadzwa Community Share Ownership Trust, Mr Hardlife Mukwada commended the positive impact ZCDC has made in uplifting surrounding livelihoods.

Zimbabwe is now Chair of the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme following the KP Conference which was held in Victoria Falls last week.

This indeed is a major feat that attests to the milestones achieved by the government in reorganising and developing the diamond industry and aligning it to global standards.
