Chadwick Boseman will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year. The late “Black Panther” actor was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s class of 2024 Monday, as part of the motion pictures category.
Boseman died of colon cancer in 2020, at the age of 43. The iconic actor made a global impact by bringing “Black Panther” to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and playing Black icons Jackie Robinson and James Brown on the silver screen.
According to their official website, the Walk of Fame was first created by E.M. Stuart, volunteer president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, in 1958.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame honored another late icon this year at a ceremony unveiling the star for Tupac Shakur, who was officially chosen as an honoree in 2013. The rapper’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur accepted her brother’s award, while radio personality Big Boy emceed the event.
Shakur received the Walk of Fame’s 2,758th star.
In addition to Boseman, who was described as a “beloved actor” during the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s live stream, other stars including newly-minted Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Andre Romell Young (“Dr. Dre”), Kerry Washington and Chris Pine were also part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2024 class.
Yeoh is celebrating an all-time career high at 60 after winning her first Oscar for her starring role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” last year. Most recently, Yeoh starred in the Disney+ action-comedy series “American Born Chinese” released in May.
The full list of the 2024 honorees can be found in the Walk of Fame’s Monday Livestream.
