Social media users were left thoroughly concerned after media personality Dineo Ranaka revealed that she was dealing with mental health issues and contemplating suicide. Heading online, her sister Manaka Ranaka revealed that family were attending to Dineo. Later on, reports revealed that the Kaya FM host had been admitted to a mental health facility.
On Saturday 3 June, it was reported that Dineo had “discharged herself” from the facility after having a verbal altercation with a healthcare worker at the hospital. Tweeps have now slammed the healthcare worker in various tweets.
On Wednesday this week, various publications reported that media personality Dineo Ranaka was admitted into a mental health facility in Pretoria following suicidal thoughts.
“She appreciated all the messages she has received from everyone. She hasn’t been able to respond to everyone, but she is fighting. She will be okay. Dineo is a fighter, everybody knows that,” Manaka Ranaka said about her sister.
Just a few days later, it was reported that the media personality had left the facility following a squabble with one of the healthcare workers.
“Someone was on the phone so Dineo thought that person was taking a picture and she confronted him.
“Then the boy said to Dineo shut up and then they had a confrontation which ended up in him saying she must not take out her frustrations on him,” a source allegedly told Sunday World.
The news has upset social media users who have slammed the healthcare worker.
“The issue is the hospital worker. How dare he say that she mustn’t take out her issues on him!?? That is a mental health facility. Everyone there has issues. It’s not up to him to judge! Where is the empathy? He wanted to ‘show’ Dineo. That entire statement reeks of bias,” wrote one person.
