Lady Gaga will not have to pay the $500,000 reward to the woman who was an accomplice in the stealing of her beloved French bulldogs in 2021.
The “Rain On Me” hitmaker announced the generous reward in February of that year after her purebred pups, Koji and Gustav, were snatched from her dog walker at gunpoint. Following the safe return of her pooches, Gaga was slapped with a lawsuit from Jennifer McBride after she did not hand over the money.
And according to TMZ, the case has now been thrown out before it even made it to trial.
The judge said allowing McBride to pursue the claims “would allow her to benefit from her admitted wrongdoing,” the outlet adds.
After returning the dogs at the LAPD Olympic Community station on Feb. 26, 2021, McBride was later charged in connection to the theft with receiving stolen property and being an accessory to the crime.
McBride eventually pled no contest to one count of receiving stolen property and was slapped with two years of probation.
She now has 20 days to resubmit the case.
As previously reported, Fischer was walking three of Gaga’s dogs in Los Angeles on Feb. 24, 2021, when he was accosted by multiple men, who stole two of the Grammy winner’s pets.
Jackson and others drove around several neighborhoods that day in search of French bulldogs. In the process, Ryan Fischer was shot in the chest and hospitalized. Luckily, he survived his injuries. He lost part of a lung in what he described as a “very close call with death.”
James Howard Jackson, who cops identified as the main culprit, pled no contest to a count of attempted murder. He was ultimately sentenced to 21 years in prison.
Jackson was one of five people — three men and two accomplices — who participated in the violent robbery and its aftermath. Authorities say the perpetrators did not specifically target Lady Gaga, as they did not know the dogs belonged to the musician.
They believe the group’s motive was the value of the French bulldogs, a breed that can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars.
Last year, Jaylin White pleaded no contest to second-degree robbery and was sentenced to four years in state prison for his role in the robbery.
