Gomez has long used her platform to spread awareness about mental illness.

She created the Rare Impact Fund in 2020 as “part of her commitment to addressing mental health and self-acceptance,” per the fund’s website.

Additionally, she has gotten candid about her own mental health journey.

Last year, it was revealed that the “Calm Down” singer — who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020 — had past feelings of not wanting to be alive after she suffered a “mental breakdown” during her 2016 “Revival” tour, which she canceled early.

“At one point she’s like, ‘I don’t want to be alive right now. I don’t want to live,’” Gomez’s former assistant Theresa Mingus told the camera in the actress’ Apple TV+ documentary, “My Mind and Me.”

Over the years, Gomez has taken social media breaks to protect her mental health from negative commenters.

Most recently, the “Love You Like a Love Song” singer announced a hiatus from the sites after her drama with her ex Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, began to reignite online.
