Britney Spears has reportedly hired ‘divorce attorney to the stars’ Laura Wasser amid her purported separation from her husband Sam Asghari.
It was reported earlier this week that Britney, 41, and Sam, 29, are parting ways. The news comes just over a year after they got married, with the singer and the actor having tied the knot in a ceremony held in June last year.
And it’s now been claimed that Britney has hired attorney Laura, 55 – who specialises in family law – amid the apparent separation. Laura is said to have previously been hired by Britney in her custody battle with Kevin Federline in 2008.
A source told PageSix that Britney has hired Laura – who’s said to have worked with a host of celebrity clients – again as her split from Sam isn’t expected to the amicable. Their apparent separation has made headlines this week.
It’s been reported that Sam moved out of their home after a “nuclear” argument. It’s claimed he allegedly approached his wife about cheating rumours. A source had told TMZ: “It’s only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce.”
Britney was seen without her wedding ring on recently following reports that she’s separating from Sam. And the actor himself was spotted without his ring on in a photo that was shared on Instagram just a few weeks ago.
Britney is believed to be the latest celebrity client for Laura. The attorney has reportedly worked with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Johnny Depp, as well as more recently Kevin Costner and Joe Manganiello, in her career.
Laura is said to advocate for people getting their finances in order before getting married. According to PageSix, the attorney commented said in 2020: “Every couple should have a prenuptial agreement, regardless of wealth.”
It states that she added at the time: “You are making the biggest decision of your life to marry someone, so you should have an agreement about key things like kids, finances and how you plan to care for your parents as they get older.”
