Cardi B, 30, went viral over the weekend of Jul. 29 after she threw a microphone at a concert-goer after they tossed an unknown liquid at her. Nearly one week later, on Aug. 3, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told ABC News that the songstress will not face charges after she was named a suspect for battery on Jul. 31.
“This case has been closed as having insufficient evidence,” local officials said in the statement. HollywoodLife reached out to her rep for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
The latest development comes nearly one week after Cardi was pictured throwing a microphone at an audience member during her Las Vegas concert. The “unnamed individual” was ” struck by the microphone on her right shoulder,” per the police report obtained by the above-mentioned outlet. It also claimed that the woman was “experiencing pain because of this incident and is going to go get medical attention.” Cardi was named a suspect in the battery report but will not be facing any charges.
As previously mentioned, the mother-of-two was performing at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas on Jul. 29 when a fan tossed a liquid at her while Cardi was singing (watch the video below). Moments later, the “I Like It” hitmaker chucked her microphone directly at the concert attendee and appeared to shout at her. The incident went viral online almost instantly, however, Cardi was seemingly unphased as she retweeted a post of the clip that was captioned, “Jealous A** B****!” The caption was seemingly in reference to her latest song “Jealousy,” which she dropped with her husband, Offset, on Jul. 28.
Later, on Jul. 31, a TikTok video went viral that pictured Cardi asking fans to throw water on her amid her performance. “Throw me some water up here, b****, ’cause I’m hot,” she quipped in the clip. “Give me some water.” Soon after the clip was shared online, several of Cardi’s fans took to the comments to react and express their opinion on the incident. “Ahhh There’s always more to the story!!!”, one fan wrote, while another quipped, “See! Now I understand!”
Cardi and her man recently brushed off the microphone drama on Jul. 31 when they shared a video of the 30-year-old twerking on Offset in a red/orange bikini. “What happens in Vegas, stays [sic] in Vegas,” she captioned the clip. In the now-viral video, Cardi and Offset danced around to their new song while they lounged on their hotel’s rooftop pool. This took place on the heels of their alleged cheating drama that took place just weeks prior to the “Jealousy” release. Offset, 31, has since admitted that he embellished the truth and was “lit” when he made the allegations against his wife.
