Joe Jonas hits back at Sophie Turner as she sues him

After Sophie Turner filed a petition to have their children returned to England, a representative for Joe Jonas fired back. They said there is an order preventing either parent from relocating the children.

In a statement Joe’s representative told The Mirror: “The Florida court has already entered an order that restricts both parents from relocating the children. Sophie was served with this order on September 6, 2023, more than two weeks ago.”

Furthermore, Joe’s representative insists that “Sophie was aware that Joe was going to filed for divorce” and that the current situation is “an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending”. They also raise a red flag surrounding the word ‘abduction’ and the accusation that Joe is refusing to return the passports.

Sophie’s petition, while not directly accusing Joe of child abduction, does reference the word multiple times. The document reads: “This Verified Petition is brought pursuant to The Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, done at the Hauge on October 25, 1980… and the International Abduction Remedies Act.”

Joe’s representative said: “When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst. The children are not abducted.”

The statement went on to say the children are “currently with their mother” after months of travelling with Joe on tour with his band the Jonas Brothers. In the future, Joe is “okay with the kids being raised both in the U.S. and the UK”, but makes a point that the children are American citizens and lived in the U.S. for most of their lives.

According to Sophie’s petition, she claims the family’s previously agreed plan was to move to England and that they had been residing there in recent months. She notes that they put their Miami home on the market in preparation for the move and were looking for schools for their oldest chid.

Joe’s statement concludes with stating: “Joe has already disavowed any and all statements purportedly made on his behalf that were disparaging of Sophie. They were made without his approval and are not consistent with his views. His wish is that Sophie reconsider her harsh legal position and move forward in a more constructive and private manner. His only concern is the well-being of his children.”
