Kate Middleton and Prince William have remained united amid their feud with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and it seems the fractured relationship won’t be mended any time soon.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a number of explosive allegations against various members of the Royal Family after stepping back from The Firm three years ago. In their Netflix docuseries, Harry accused his brother William of leaving him “terrified” during the Sandringham Summit. Harry claims William “screamed and shouted” at him during the meeting.
In Harry’s debut memoir Spare, he also detailed a falling out between Meghan and Kate which he says left his wife “sobbing on the floor”. The two women had a heated disagreement over the bridesmaid dress Princess Charlotte wore for Harry and Meghan’s wedding. Harry says Kate insisted “all the dresses need to be remade” just days before the big day, leaving Meghan in tears.
One expert has suggested that Kate will have been “hurt and insulted” by Harry and Meghan’s comments, having previously hoped for a reconciliation. Royal expert Jennie Bond suggested the Princess of Wales finds it “incredibly hard to understand how people can become estranged” as she comes from a “united family”.
Jennie added: “I think she believed the rift could be fixed and, after Prince Philip’s funeral, we saw her talking with Harry and obviously encouraging William to do the same. But we now know that it didn’t work.”
The expert said Kate will now have to accept that happy families “are not a game that everyone can play.” She also said Kate and Prince William have turned themselves into a “strong team” amid the family drama.
Jennie suggested to OK! magazine that the Prince and Princess have Wales will have decided that their broken relationship with the Sussexes “cannot be fixed in the foreseeable future.” She added that they’ve “closed their minds” to the idea and decided to move on.
Another expert also said Harry and Kate’s bond was “ruined” after he made “snide remarks” about her. “When you think of the personal revelations, and I think you can call them snide remarks made about Kate in Spare, Harry broke the one rule and that is staying silent on family matters,” author Katie Nicholl said.
Speaking to The Sun, she added: “Kate and Harry used to be very, very close. There’s been a complete breakdown of that relationship. I don’t think Kate does angry. I think it is more a case of feeling very disappointed.”
