Prince Harry was once treated to an extra special birthday present set up by his close pal and media mogul Oprah Winfrey. One year, the talk show host, who previously conducted a bombshell interview with Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, organized an extravagant gift for the Duke of Sussex. According to Iron Chef, Cat Cora, she was hired by Oprah to cook a meal for Harry on his birthday.
During a chat with Lance Armstrong on Stars on Mars, she revealed that she received a call from the host arranging the special gift. She said: “One day I hear my phone ringing, and it’s Oprah, and she says: ‘Cat, it’s Harry’s birthday and I need you to cook for them.”
Cat didn’t reveal what meal she prepared for Harry and Meghan but admitted that she became friendly with the couple and described them as “buddies” and “really nice.” Harry is set to celebrate his 39th birthday on the 15th of September. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been in Dusseldorf, Germany for the Invictus Games and plan on staying until its official end tomorrow, meaning the Duke will spend his big day with his wife.
Luckily Meghan is tipped to have something “meaningful” in place for Harry’s day. Royal historian Tessa Dunlop revealed that the Sussexes always give each other a “meaningful” gift, which was once a picture of Archie gifted from Meghan to Harry. She believes that Meghan will continue their tradition this year.
“I presume Meghan will join him there later, they’ll do a double act there. They’ll do something meaningful, they’re in a neutral space in Germany and I think they’ll have a good one,” Tessa told OK! magazine.
The night before his birthday Harry and Meghan took a group of their aides for dinner at Im Goldened Kessel restaurant, tucking into plates of traditional grub – including bratwurst, red cabbage, and mashed potato. They were seen laughing and joking throughout the night, with Harry drinking six beers while Meghan also enjoyed one.
