On Thursday, the rapper, 36, dropped the music video for his new song “8 AM in Charlotte,” off his new album For All the Dogs. At the beginning of the video, an off-screen Drake begins asking his 5-year-old son Adonis about his artwork.
“All right. Adonis, tell me about your beautiful piece of artwork that you sold me,” Drake says as the camera watches Adonis holding his art.
“So it’s the same story. So the goat was running away from the other monsters. And the other animals. And a flower blocking the way,” Adonis explains.
“So the flowers of fire. The racing car was maybe helping the goat. And there was this, some stairs who’s like a jail stairs. And there was one person who was on top. And he got killed by the stick by the track.”
“OK, so it’s almost like a little story,” Drake asks his son. “Yes,” Adonis replies.
“And what is SBW?” the proud father asks. “So it’s not a word, but I just wanted to write SBW,” Adonis says matter-of-factly.
“OK. You like those letters? And Daddy’s name is next to the goat. Does that mean that Daddy’s the goat?” Drake asks.
“Yes. So it’s Daddy Goat,” Adonis says.
“Daddy Goat. That makes perfect sense to me. And do you want to talk about how much, how much money you got for your beautiful drawing?” Drake asks.
“Oh, please.” Adonis scoffs as the video fades into his father’s single.
Drake shares his son with French artist Sophie Brussaux. In August, the “God’s Plan” rapper shared a video of his son with a piece of notebook paper in his hand as he repeated a line from Drake’s song “Rich Flex” with 21 Savage.
After drawing the artist performing on stage, Adonis wrote, “Dear Dad, I hope you have a great concert,” presenting the note as he bounced around singing, “21, can ya do somethin’ for me?”
In another video, Adonis sang the same lyric as he jumped around on the couch.
