The University of the Witwatersrand released an official statement in response to Dr Matthew Lani’s claim of being a graduate of the Uni as a doctor.
The TikTok user topped the Twitter trend list on Monday morning as people dragged him for being a fake doctor.
He dropped a video, defending himself with the claim that he graduated from Wits Uni and was also registered as a doctor with his real name Sanele Zingelwa.
In an official statement released on social media, the university urged Lani to retract his statement as all of the names he mentioned aren’t on the list of Wits graduates.
“Following claims made by “Dr Matthew Lani” on social media and based on the facts at hand, Wits cannot find any person who graduated by the name of Matthew Bongani Zingelwa or Sanele Zingelwa in recent years,” reads part of the statement.
