Meghan Markle has been pipped to a lucrative Dior job by a Kate Middleton actress, which comes mere months after it was speculated that the Duchess of Sussex could become the Duchess of Dior.
Last week it was revealed that Meg Bellamy, 21, who plays a young Kate Middleton in the new series of The Crown, is to be the new face of Dior. Fans online have said that the news of the brand’s new ambassador “must make Markle cry”.
An insider revealed to Closer Magazine: “They [brands] have been queuing up for Meg. She is being treated like Kate, an A-list princess.”
Similarly, The Daily Mail recently reported that a source said: “They have been queuing up for Meg, she is playing the most famous woman in the world in a globally famous television drama, so many labels and brands want some of that. She is a total unknown, but she is being treated like Kate, an A-list princess.”
Back in June, it was reported that Meghan was on the right path to becoming the Duchess of Dior, with rumours circulating after she and Prince Harry were dubbed “f***ing grifters” by a top Spotify executive after their $25million contract was ended.
According to a source back in the summer, the Duchess’ new agent Ari Emanuel, the chief of talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) was said to be pushing Meghan’s clout as a top fashion influencer. A source from WME told the Mail on Sunday at the time: “We knew the Spotify announcement was coming. It might be a shock to everyone else but we’ve been working on the rebranding of Meghan for weeks. Ari is the best in the business when it comes to corporate deals and making money.
“He’s excited to be representing Meghan and has thrown all his energy into it. The offers have been pouring in, including from other podcast platforms.”
