Singer Ashanti Douglas is reportedly pregnant and expecting her first baby with her boyfriend Nelly after the pair recently shared a flirty onstage moment together hinting at the news.

Over the weekend the power couple sent fans into a frenzy after a sweet onstage moment leading many to believe they are expecting their first child. During Nelly’s Black and White Ball in St. Louis, Ashanti was seen placing her hand on her stomach onstage with her partner as he jokingly looked at her and did the same. The pair then broke into laughter as they seemingly gave the clue they were starting a family together.

A source later confirmed to US Weekly that the pregnancy rumours were true. They told the news outlet Monday: “Nelly and Ashanti are welcoming their first baby together.”

If Ashanti is expecting, this would be the 43-year-old singer’s first child and Nelly’s third as he also shares his 29-year-old daughter Chanelle and 24-year-old son Cornell Haynes with his ex-girlfriend Channetta Valentine.

The lovebirds were previously linked back in 2003 and have since shared an on-and-off relationship ever since with the pair confirming that they were officially dating this year at the MTV Video Music Awards. Ashanti adorably confirmed they were back together as she held up a throwback photo of herself and Nelly while walking on the pink carpet this year.

During the VMA’s, Ashanti sweetly held the snap up to cameras as she strutted in a stunning sparkling gold gown across the carpet. She later revealed that the reason she announced the news during the event was because it held a special significance to the couple as it was the place they first met 10 years earlier. The “Foolish” singer told Today: “This is where we first exchanged numbers,” she continued “I was like: ‘Oh, this would be cute.’ Everything is lining up in the universe. So I’m happy.”

Nelly also later spoke about their rekindled romance saying that it feels “good” to be back together. The rapper continued: “I mean, it’s no pressure, before I felt like both of us are doing what we’re doing before career-wise and when you got so many people in the middle of it, it can be tough.”
