Dolly Parton has fangirled over Beyoncé’s historic No. 1 on the country chart. The country icon, 78, congratulated Beyoncé on becoming the first Black woman to debut at No. 1 on Billboard Hot Country Songs with “Texas Hold ‘Em,” from the highly-anticipated Act II of Renaissance.
I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album,” Parton said in a statement shared on social media. “Congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single.”
“Can’t wait to hear the full album!” she added. Texas Hold ‘Em” marks Beyoncé’s debut on the country charts. Her second single, “16 Carriages,” currently sits at No. 9. The alien superstar broke the internet earlier this month when she announced she was dropping new music in her Verizon Super Bowl ad, debuting the two singles amidst the big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
Parton, of course, is no stranger to No. 1s herself. Her most recent rock album Rockstar topped both of Billboard’s Top Country Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts following its November 2023 debut.
Beyoncé recently wrapped her record-breaking Renaissance World Tour in October 2023, pulling in $579 million, making it the highest-grossing tour by a female artist in history, as well as the seventh-highest-grossing tour overall. It led to a box office-topping concert film Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. Renaissance: Act II is set to drop March 29. Could it feature a Parton collaboration?
