Three police officers stationed at Chituripasi Police Station in Beitbridge East district have been accused of multiple counts of raping an 18-year-old woman last month.
The officers, identified as Courage Majoni (32), Jabulani Museba (33), and Enock Nyamupandu (35), appeared before regional magistrate Innocent Bepura where they pleaded not guilty to the charges. They were remanded in custody pending a bail application.
According to reports, the alleged rapes occurred on three separate occasions. On June 5, Museba allegedly entered the bathroom while the victim was bathing and raped her, threatening to harm her and her aunt if they reported the incident.
Three days later, Majoni is accused of committing a similar offense, also involving the victim in a bathroom. Then, on June 13, Nyamupandu allegedly broke into the victim’s residence and raped her at knifepoint.
The victim eventually confided in her mother after returning to Bulawayo, which led to the arrest of the officers following a report at Western Commonage Police Station. The prosecution is being handled by Tsitsi Mutukwa.
