Zimbabwe Parks Authority Shoots Three Elephants in Beitbridge Amid Unclear Circumstances The Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Parks Authority) has reportedly shot dead three elephants in Beitbridge under unclear circumstances. However, it is speculated they had turned rogue.

According to Parks Authority spokesperson Tinashe Farawo, details from Beitbridge are still forthcoming. Residents of Beitbridge, in collaboration with rangers, participated in the butchering of the elephants for meat.

It is believed that a contracted safari hunter was responsible for euthanizing the elephants, which are commonly found in this border district.

Beitbridge lies at the heart of two transfrontier parks, Gonarezhou and Mapungubwe, with the Bubye Valley Conservancy, home to various Zimbabwean wildlife species, just a short drive away from the town.

Dr. Prosper Chonzi, the Health Director of Harare City, confirmed in an interview with ZBC News that the surge is particularly concentrated in densely populated suburbs such as Mbare, Glen View, Budiriro, Tafara, and Glen Norah.
