Musician Baba Harare has recently addressed speculation surrounding his personal life and professional shift from Jiti to gospel music. The comments come in response to a report by the daily tabloid H-Metro, which suggested that Baba Harare’s transition to gospel music was influenced by his new wife. The musician has clarified these claims, revealing the truth about his marital status and his reasons for changing his musical direction.
In response to the tabloid report, Baba Harare refuted claims that he recently married, explaining that he and his wife have been married for some time but chose to keep their relationship private. “I have heard people say I recently got married, which is false. I have been married to her for some time, but I did not want her to be in the media. Social media went into overdrive when her images were publicized with many versions coming up,” he said.
The 35-year-old multi-instrumentalist expressed frustration over the false narratives circulating online and emphasized that his wife’s influence on his career transition is a misconception.Baba Harare also addressed the rumors linking his switch from Jiti to gospel music to his marital life. Contrary to speculation, he stated that his decision to move into gospel music was not influenced by his wife but rather by a profound spiritual experience.
“Early this year we travelled to Australia with my group where I had a sold-out show. The fans embraced my music, but God spoke to me and convinced me to quit secular music and serve Him. I know I will miss traveling and stuff but I do not regret this move. This is the wisest move I have made in my life,” Baba Harare explained.
The musician’s decision to pivot to gospel music is rooted in a deep sense of calling he experienced during a performance abroad. This shift marks a significant change in his career, reflecting a personal transformation and a new spiritual commitment. In line with his new direction, Baba Harare is set to launch his debut gospel album titled “Repentance” this Sunday at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare. The album launch is expected to be a significant event, with renowned gospel musicians such as Minister Michael Mahendere, Takesure Zamar, Jona Chivasa, Tatenda Mahachi, and Sabastian Magacha scheduled to attend.
As Baba Harare embarks on this new chapter in his musical journey, his fans and the broader music community are eager to see how his gospel work will be received. The forthcoming album launch promises to be a noteworthy event, celebrating both the artist’s personal and professional evolution.
