A tragic incident unfolded on 13 July at Chirwa Mine in Mashonaland Central, where Albert Tom, a 21-year-old miner, stands accused of murdering his colleague over a purported theft of US$33. The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) revealed that Tom confronted the victim around 1:00 AM, alleging the theft.
According to reports, Tom allegedly used a steel rod to strike the victim twice on the forehead and repeatedly on the body, leaving him injured on the ground. After returning to his work, Tom later found that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. To conceal the crime, Tom reportedly moved the body approximately 40 meters away and hid it in a nearby bush.
