Highlanders claimed a league double over rivals Dynamos with a commanding 2-0 victory in their Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 18 clash at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday. Having triumphed 2-1 in the first leg, Bosso sealed their dominance in the return fixture courtesy of goals from McKinnon Mushore and Godfrey Makaruse.
The match began with a brisk tempo as both sides sought early attacking opportunities. Highlanders had the first chance in the third minute when Melikhaya Ncube’s free-kick veered wide of the mark. Mushore came close soon after, only to be thwarted.
Dynamos responded with threats of their own around the 15-minute mark, with Sydney Urikhob causing trouble from the left flank. Temptation Chiwunga also tested the Highlanders’ defense but couldn’t find the target.
After a series of attempts from both teams, Mushore finally broke the deadlock in the 24th minute to give Highlanders the lead. Despite Urikhob’s efforts, Dynamos struggled to regain momentum before halftime.
Dynamos emerged stronger in the second half, dictating play and creating opportunities, but lacked the finishing touch. Highlanders’ goalkeeper, Reward Muza, made crucial saves to deny Dynamos any breakthrough.
Highlanders regained control as the half progressed and extended their lead in the 75th minute through Makaruse’s strike. Dynamos failed to mount a late comeback, sealing their defeat as Highlanders secured a decisive victory.
