John Cena announces retirement from WWE

John Cena, the iconic figure of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), made a significant announcement at the Money in the Bank live event in Toronto, Canada, on July 6. The 47-year-old wrestler-turned-actor revealed his decision to step back from his long-standing association with the WWE.

“Tonight, I announce my retirement from the WWE,” Cena declared to the enthusiastic crowd gathered at the Scotiabank Arena. He also disclosed plans for a final tour with the WWE scheduled for 2025, including appearances at major events like the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania.

Reflecting on his journey, Cena expressed gratitude and admiration for the WWE’s enduring popularity. “I’ve been part of WWE for over two decades, witnessing immense prosperity like we’re experiencing now,” Cena remarked. “Yet, I’ve also seen tough times when the support wavered, and only the most dedicated fans stood by me.”

In a heartfelt tribute to his Canadian fans, Cena highlighted their steadfast support throughout his career. “Whether WWE was thriving or facing challenges, Canadians always showed up,” he praised. “You’ve helped build WWE to what it is today, making it fitting for me to share this moment here.”

Cena emphasized that this farewell marked not an end but a new chapter filled with possibilities. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to perform in the arena you’ve built over these years,” Cena expressed emotionally. “Thank you for your loud voices and brutally honest feedback, and most of all, thank you for allowing me to be here with you tonight.”

Having joined WWE in 2001 and achieving a record 16-time world champion status over the years, Cena’s decision to step away marks a significant transition for both him and the wrestling community.
