Man dies in fight over girlfriend

In a tragic turn of events on July 26, 2024, a 31-year-old man from Silobela was fatally stabbed following a heated altercation over a romantic interest. The incident, which has shocked the local community, involved Collious Ncube and Thabani Dube, both residents of Mthethethe village under Chief Malisa.

According to Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the violent confrontation occurred around 9 p.m. at Linda Business Centre in Silobela. Ncube and Dube were socializing and consuming beer when a disagreement regarding a shared romantic interest escalated into a deadly confrontation.

Inspector Mahoko revealed that during the altercation, Thabani Dube, aged 24, brandished a knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds on Collious Ncube. The severity of the injuries rendered Ncube unconscious at the scene. Despite being rushed to Silobela District Hospital for emergency medical attention, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The police quickly responded to the scene of the stabbing, and Thabani Dube was apprehended. He is currently in custody as investigations into the incident continue. The community is left grappling with the loss and the senseless nature of the violence. Authorities are urging anyone with further information about the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
