President Mnangagwa appoints Sekai Nzenza as Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to France and UNESCO

In a recent announcement, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Sekai Nzenza as Zimbabwe’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France. Nzenza, who previously served as the Minister of Industry and Commerce, will also represent Zimbabwe at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in Paris and the United Nations Tourism in Madrid, Spain.

The appointment was formalized in General Notice 1187 of 2024, aligning with sections 110(2)(i) and 204 of the Zimbabwean Constitution. This role underscores Nzenza’s significant diplomatic responsibilities, extending Zimbabwe’s influence across critical international institutions.

Nzenza, a former legislator for Chikomba East, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new position. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Melbourne and a degree in Health Sciences from the United Kingdom. Additionally, Nzenza is recognized for her contributions as an author and cultural critic, adding depth to her diplomatic credentials.

At a recent Zanu-PF provincial coordinating committee meeting in Marondera, Mashonaland East, provincial chairperson Daniel Garwe commended the appointment, expressing appreciation to President Mnangagwa for choosing Nzenza to advance Zimbabwe’s interests abroad. Garwe highlighted the importance of Nzenza’s role in promoting Zimbabwe’s “open for business” agenda in Europe.

Nzenza’s appointment is anticipated to bolster Zimbabwe’s diplomatic relations with key international organizations and enhance the country’s representation in European and global forums.

In other news – Pastor Mboro and three others arrested following violent school incident

Pastor Paseka Motsoeneng, commonly known as Pastor Mboro, has been arrested along with three associates following a violent incident at Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong. The arrest stems from an altercation that occurred when Mboro and his group forcibly removed his two grandchildren from the school.

On Monday, disturbing videos surfaced showing Mboro wielding a panga, while one of his companions appeared to carry a rifle.
