The Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) have officially dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that Zanu PF Harare provincial chairperson Goodwills Masimirembwa had been arrested. These claims emerged yesterday, suggesting that Masimirembwa had been taken into custody by officers from Harare Central Police Station for questioning related to an undisclosed case.
In response to these allegations, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi clarified, “He (Masimirembwa) was not arrested and we don’t have such a report.” Similarly, ZACC officials confirmed that they had neither arrested nor initiated any investigation involving Masimirembwa.
Masimirembwa himself has also refuted the claims, attributing them to detractors seeking to damage his reputation. He emphasized that the reports are unfounded and intended to create confusion regarding his standing. As the situation unfolds, both the police and ZACC continue to affirm their commitment to transparency and integrity in their operations.
