Investigation Underway as farmer was found dead in Mvurwi

A tragic incident unfolded yesterday when 72-year-old Norman Muchineripi Mutsigwa was found dead along the Mazowe-Centenary highway, raising concerns about foul play. The prominent farmer was discovered half-dressed near his vehicle, a black Honda with the registration number AFF-7957, at the 41-kilometer peg.

According to Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe, investigators are urgently treating the case. “I can confirm the case, but investigations are still ongoing, and we are suspecting foul play,” he stated. Authorities reported that Mutsigwa’s belongings were intact, including US$270 in his pocket. The circumstances of his death, particularly the presence of a used condom beside him, have led to further speculation regarding the events that transpired before his death.

Mutsigwa had been renting Plot 56 at Ometh farm in Mvurwi and reportedly returned from there when the incident occurred. As the investigation continues, the community is left in shock, mourning the loss of a respected figure in local agriculture. Police are appealing for anyone with information related to the case to come forward, as they seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mutsigwa’s untimely death.
