Media personality Carol Bouwer has officially unveiled the details for the highly anticipated Miss World South Africa event. For its second year under her stewardship, the pageant will be held on October 5, 2024, at the renowned Sun City resort in North West Province. Bouwer, who is also known for her work with The Mbokodo Awards, Motswako, and African Odyssey, expressed her excitement about returning to Sun City—a venue she considers pivotal in the history of pageantry on the continent. “Thirty years ago, I traveled around the world with the finalists, starting in the Seychelles and culminating here at Sun City. I am honored to return to a place that is central to pageantry in Africa,” Bouwer told TshisaLIVE.
The Miss World South Africa pageant is poised to showcase a remarkable group of finalists, reflecting Bouwer’s commitment to nurturing future leaders through the platform. “We are getting ready for finale week. The set is designed, and we are excited to welcome everyone to see our finalists. Truly a remarkable group. Seeing South Africa crown someone who will help us win the Miss World crown,” Bouwer added.
Bouwer’s approach this year continues the tradition of blending elegance with purpose. She emphasized that while the pageant has grown, its core mission remains unchanged. The new Miss World South Africa will not only represent the country at the Miss World competition but also engage with the nation throughout the year. “Foremost, she is going to represent us at Miss World and second, she is going to engage our nation at all critical points throughout the year as a role model, a speaker, a builder, and a helping hand where needed,” Bouwer explained.
Jacqui Mofokeng, Miss South Africa 1993, is highlighted as a key figure who changed perceptions of beauty by demonstrating that intellect and beauty are not mutually exclusive. Bouwer’s vision for the pageant continues in this spirit, focusing on empowering and uplifting women who can serve as both role models and leaders.
The event is set to be a grand affair, supported by Sun International and other sponsors, reflecting Bouwer’s ongoing dedication to creating impactful and inspiring experiences through the Miss World South Africa platform.
