A Harare-bound Toyota Hiace reportedly lost its brakes and crashed into a tree at the 52-kilometer peg along the Mazowe-Centenary road yesterday, resulting in eleven injuries, one of which was serious.
The driver, 33-year-old Charlse Nyamharadzi, failed to negotiate a curve after the vehicle’s brakes failed. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, with a seriously injured passenger being airlifted by an ambulance helicopter from Mvurwi Hospital to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
The sight of the helicopter attracted a crowd at Mvurwi Hospital, as onlookers gathered to witness the airlifting of the accident victim. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, underscoring the importance of vehicle safety and maintenance on the roads.
