Diaz Matangira, the son of Zanu PF MP Remigious Toendepi Matangira, was arrested on Monday following a road rage incident in Harare where he allegedly pointed a firearm at an off-duty soldier. The incident took place around 11 AM on Lomagundi Road, where Matangira was driving his father’s grey Ford Ranger Raptor.
Witnesses reported that Matangira was aggressively maneuvering behind a slow-moving Toyota Vitz, repeatedly honking his horn. After overtaking the vehicle, he is accused of brandishing a gun, registered in his father’s name, at Arnold Musengi, a soldier from the Special Air Services stationed at Inkomo Barracks.
Musengi, along with other motorists, pursued Matangira and successfully forced him to stop. He was subsequently arrested by Avondale Police and is facing charges related to pointing a firearm. Matangira is expected to appear in court as the case unfolds, raising questions about accountability and conduct among public figures.
