The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has issued a strong warning about a rise in fraudulent recruitment schemes operated by con artists impersonating legitimate ZNA officers. These criminals are targeting unsuspecting individuals, demanding payment in exchange for promises of jobs within the army.
The ZNA highlighted various deceptive tactics employed by these fraudsters, including fake social media advertisements, false recruitment notices, and bogus medical examination requests. Despite ongoing alerts from the ZNA through both print and electronic media, many people continue to fall prey to these scams, resulting in financial losses.
In a recent statement, the ZNA reiterated that its recruitment process is completely free. The army does not charge any fees for recruitment or training, and all medical examinations are conducted by ZNA personnel without any payment required. The army clarified that they do not engage third-party agents for recruitment, urging the public to be cautious.
To help combat these scams, the ZNA encouraged individuals approached by self-proclaimed recruitment agents to verify their legitimacy by contacting the nearest ZNA camp. “Always confirm the authenticity of any recruitment advertisement or agent through official ZNA channels,” the statement advised. The army also cautioned against sharing personal financial information or making payments to individuals claiming to be recruitment agents.
The ZNA emphasized that all official recruitment drives are advertised through mainstream media, and prospective candidates must submit written applications. Selections take place at designated military camps throughout the country’s provinces.
In light of the ongoing fraudulent activities, the ZNA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Zimbabwe and promised strict action against those found perpetuating these scams. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the nearest Army Camp or the Zimbabwe Republic Police Station.
