Nota Baloyi faces serious allegations amid controversy

South African music mogul Nota Baloyi is once again under scrutiny, this time facing serious allegations from singer and actress Itumeleng Bokaba, who has accused him of rape. This development follows Bokaba’s recent claims about being underpaid for her contributions to Kwesta’s hit song “Mayibabo,” a situation that has already garnered significant media attention.

Bokaba disclosed last week that she received less than R1 for her work on the track, alleging that Baloyi, whom she had trusted to manage her interests, had swindled her. This revelation quickly escalated when controversial blogger Musa Khawula announced that Bokaba had filed formal charges against Baloyi.

In her statement addressing the situation, Bokaba emphasized that the rape allegation and the pay dispute are unrelated. “I know everyone is concerned and panicked right now, but I want to assure you that I’m okay,” she said. “This situation occurred before the ‘Mayibabo’ saga that made headlines last week, and it is not connected to that issue, other than unfortunate timing and overlap of people involved.”

Bokaba further stated her intent to remain silent on the matter, expressing trust in the justice system to handle the allegations appropriately. In response, Baloyi has vehemently denied the accusations, asserting that their encounter was consensual and initiated by Bokaba. He claimed that she had attempted to extort him, leading him to seek a protection order against her. In the protection order, Baloyi alleged that Bokaba threatened to publicly accuse him of rape if he did not introduce her to his parents.

“I introduced her to my parents, or else she would publicly humiliate me and accuse me of raping her,” Baloyi stated in the document. As the situation develops, both parties are navigating a complex landscape of allegations and counterclaims, leaving the community and fans awaiting the outcome of the legal proceedings. The incident has reignited discussions about accountability and trust in the music industry, highlighting the challenges artists face in their professional relationships.
