Chinehasha Secondary School- Dear Sir Wicknell Chivhayo, I write to you with deep respect and hope, as one of many who have witnessed and admired your tireless acts of generosity across Zimbabwe. Your philanthropy has reached schools, churches, families, and individuals in ways that have left an indelible mark. Today, I reach out not for myself, but on behalf of the learners at Chinehasha Secondary School in Chiweshe, whose dreams and futures hang in the balance due to a critical gap in our school’s infrastructure.
As it stands, our school is unable to offer Advanced Level (A-Level) science classes because we lack a basic but vital facility—a fully equipped science laboratory. This shortfall has not only restricted academic growth but has also closed doors for students aspiring to pursue careers in medicine, engineering, technology, and environmental sciences. For rural students, opportunities are already scarce. The absence of a lab deprives them further of the practical, hands-on learning experience that is essential in developing scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills.
Sir, your past deeds have proven that you are not just a man of considerable means, but a man of compassion—one who responds to genuine needs with open arms and an open heart. We do not ask for luxury, but for a foundation upon which future scientists, doctors, and innovators from our community can stand. Imagine the power of giving young learners the ability to conduct their own experiments, learn through observation, and compete academically with their peers from more resourced schools.
Your name has become synonymous with empowerment. From providing vehicles to pastors, to funding the construction of schools and churches, you have built a reputation not just as a businessman, but as a custodian of hope. We have seen you lift spirits with your giving; we have seen you create opportunity where none existed. I write today to ask you to do the same for our learners at Chinehasha.
An Open Letter to Sir Wicknell Chivhayo: A Plea for the Future of Chinehasha Secondary School
The Word of God reminds us in Acts 20:35: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Your giving has not only met physical needs but has inspired thousands across the country to believe in the power of charity. A science lab at Chinehasha would not just be a structure—it would be a symbol of belief in rural potential, a physical embodiment of the idea that no child should be left behind because of where they were born.
This appeal is not merely for educational tools but for a transformation. The students of Chinehasha deserve the chance to dream big, to innovate, and to lead. As the saying goes, “It is better to build strong children than to repair broken men.” With your help, we can lay the foundation now—before dreams are deferred or lost entirely.
We are not asking for a miracle. We are asking for an opportunity—the kind you have so often provided to others. A science laboratory will not only enrich the curriculum but will elevate the status of our school, attract qualified teachers, and build community pride. The ripple effects of your support would be felt for generations.
Sir, your legacy already stretches far and wide, but this gesture would deepen it further in the hearts of students, teachers, and an entire community that believes in education as a vehicle for lasting change.
I humbly ask that you consider this appeal and help us bring science education to life at Chinehasha Secondary School. Should you wish to visit or engage further on how best this dream can be realised, we would be honoured to host you in Chiweshe.
On behalf of our staff, our students, and the greater Chinehasha community, I thank you for your time, your vision, and your continued commitment to uplifting Zimbabwe. We remain hopeful that you will hear our call and help write the next chapter in the lives of our young learners.
With deep gratitude and warm regards,
Cde Mutandawachingama
