The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has officially announced the release of results for the June 2025 Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations, bringing relief and clarity to thousands of students who participated in the mid-year session. The announcement was made on Friday morning through a formal statement issued by the ZIMSEC Board Chairperson.
According to the statement, candidates can now access their results via the ZIMSEC online portal, which opened on August 2 and will remain active for five days. The digital platform has been made available to all candidates as well as authorised personnel, including school administrators and education officials.
“With effect from today, August 2, 2025, Advanced and Ordinary Level examination candidates’ results will be accessible online through the ZIMSEC portal,” the board chairperson said. “The results will be available to candidates and authorised personnel until the portal closes after five days.”
In addition to the online access, heads of examination centres across the country have been instructed to collect printed copies of their schools’ results from designated ZIMSEC regional offices. This move ensures that institutions are able to begin internal processing for administrative purposes and support learners with result-based guidance.
The June session has historically played a crucial role within Zimbabwe’s education system, catering especially to private candidates, repeat students, and those looking to improve their academic performance before the main examination period in November. This year marks the full return of the mid-year exams, which had been disrupted or scaled down over the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated challenges.
For many candidates, the June session provides a second chance—whether to meet university entrance requirements, improve poor results from previous sittings, or fast-track academic progression.
ZIMSEC Releases June 2025 ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Examination Results
“I wrote my ‘A’ Level Mathematics again in June because I wanted to improve my grade from last year,” said a candidate from Gweru. “Being able to access my results this early gives me enough time to apply for university before deadlines.”
The timely release of the June 2025 results is expected to aid national education planning efforts by providing updated performance data to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. It will also allow schools and examination centres to evaluate learner outcomes and make strategic decisions ahead of the end-of-year exams.
While ZIMSEC did not immediately publish detailed statistics such as national pass rates, regional comparisons, or gender-based performance trends, officials have confirmed that a full report will be released in the coming weeks. Analysts and educators are awaiting this data to assess whether student performance has recovered following the disruptions caused by the pandemic and to evaluate the effectiveness of recent curriculum reforms.
Education experts have long advocated for the continued support and expansion of the June exam window, noting its importance in offering flexible pathways for learners of varying academic needs. The session is also considered vital for reducing the pressure on the November examinations, as it allows some students to complete their qualifications earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, ZIMSEC has urged candidates to use official channels when accessing their results and to avoid falling prey to social media rumours or unverified information. Technical support teams have been placed on standby to assist with login issues and other challenges that candidates may encounter while using the online portal.
For those who may have concerns about their results, ZIMSEC reminded students and schools of the formal remarking process, which is available upon request within a specified timeframe. Candidates seeking to appeal or challenge their results are encouraged to approach their examination centres for guidance on how to initiate the process.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education welcomed the release and applauded ZIMSEC for maintaining the academic calendar. A spokesperson from the ministry said the results would give students the clarity they need to make informed decisions regarding their academic and professional futures.
“The June session continues to serve as an important pillar of our examination system. We urge all learners to treat their results—whether favourable or not—as a stepping stone toward greater achievements,” the ministry said in a brief statement.
As attention now turns to the upcoming November 2025 examination cycle, schools across the country are expected to ramp up revision sessions and exam preparation efforts. For those who wrote in June, however, the release of results marks a critical moment of reflection and planning for the next stage of their educational journey.
