ZANU PF reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting the living standards of youths

THE ruling ZANU PF Party has reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting the living standards of youths through crafting various support systems for empowerment.

There was pomp and fun-fair as several upcoming musicians performed at the Mashonaland West ZANU PF Youth inter-district conference held in Zvimba South Constituency this Saturday.

The conference attracted thousands of youths from the province and beyond with issues of drug and substance abuse taking centre stage.

The objective of the conference was for party supporters to express their support for the ruling party’s Presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections to be held this year.

“The President has done a lot for the country in terms of development, especially our rural development, we can all see that, he has made so many programs for the youths to get empowered.

“I am here through the benevolence of the President because I am a product of the Presidential Scholarship Programme, being an orphan, I am testimony of open democracy policies which allowed
youth participation in politics,” said youths who spoke to ZBC News.

“The fight against drug and substance abuse calls for us all to unite and fight the scourge so we are going to have more awareness campaigns,” said Mashonaland West ZANU PF Youth Chairman, Tapiwa Masenda.

“We have begun allocating land to the youths so they get empowered and use their energy on farming and stay away from drugs,” said Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Mary Mliswa.

ZANU PF National Secretary for Youth Affairs, Tinoda Machakaire said the party has youths at heart and will continue with engagements to come up with sustainable solutions to their varying challenges.

“We have come here to interact and enjoy with you, and we shall continue doing that, we are promising you that we are going to stand by you in all your challenges to your satisfaction, our wishes and your expectations are the same, I also want to encourage you to register to vote as we head for elections,” he said.

Youths from the provinces’ seven Districts attended the conference.
