Renowned Zimbabwean musician Mambo Dhuterere has issued a heartfelt apology to his fans following his unexpected absence from the Africa Music Festival in the UK, scheduled for August 24, 2024. The festival, which featured a lineup of major artists including Alick Macheso, Koffi Olomide, and Nkosazana Daughter, was set to be a significant event for fans of African music.
In a statement shared on social media, Mambo Dhuterere explained that the decision to not attend the festival stemmed from a miscommunication between his management and the event organizers. He expressed his regret and disappointment over the situation:
“It’s unfortunate we won’t be attending due to a little misunderstanding. I personally thank Y2K for believing in me and for trying to get us to the African giants’ event in Europe. Our fans in Europe, I thank you. They did our visas and bought tickets for everyone, but management said Europe is too far and that payment would be made upon arrival, whereas contact details indicated payment was required before departure. I am heartbroken 💔. I know my supporters feel the same. Misunderstandings like this disrupt both me and my supporters in a big way. There was one person who had set aside everything to come see me, and I did the same to see them, only for this to happen 🤷. I love you all ❣️”
Mambo Dhuterere’s absence from the festival has been a disappointment to many fans who were eagerly anticipating his performance. The artist’s apology underscores the challenges that can arise in managing international engagements and the impact of logistical issues on both artists and their supporters.
