Long fuel queues have resurfaced all over the country and have irked citizens who have to stop their productive lives and spend the time queuing for the precious liquid.
Zimbabweans have taken to social media to vent their experiences at the fuel queues.
“I had a nasty experience at Rhodesville Puma today. They had fuel but there were two queues. One which was a frighteningly long one and a very short one. As a Puma card holder, I smugly joined the short queue. I had a rude awakening. They told me point blank: this queue is ONLY for “pre-paid ” i.e. coupons.” Journalist Brezh Mala recounted.
Political Activist Pride Mkono said, “The socio-economic and political crisis in Zimbabwe has reached a stage that is not only dehumanizing but has stolen our humanity. Imagine we now measure achievement and draw satisfaction from making it to the front of the fuel queue or making it first into a kombi home!”
“I was shocked when my brother told me he was in a fuel queue. I thought that was a thing of the past, I said. Why he asked. Because no one talks about queues anymore, I said. That’s when it dawned on me that the queues have become normal. That, I guess, has been our long story.”Lawyer Alex Magaisa responded to Pride Mkono.
Speculation was high that fuel will become abundant after President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced new prices in January.
