Future is apparently still living in the past. The Atlanta-born rapper released a new track with Quavo Friday called “Turn Yo Clic Up,” in which he seemingly disses his ex Ciara’s husband, Russell Willson.
In the verse, Future raps, “I got it out the field, f–k Russell.”
Page Six has reached out to the “Mask Off” rapper’s rep for clarification about whether the line was directed at the NFL player, but did not hear back in time for publication.
However, it seems likely that the expletive was aimed at Wilson given the trio’s sordid history.
In August 2014, Ciara called off her engagement with Future after two years of dating, with a source claiming at the time that the rapper had been unfaithful.
“He cheated on her. Game over,” a source previously told Us Weekly.
“She’s devastated. Ciara’s focus now is the baby,” the insider added, referencing the former couple’s son, Future Zahir, whom they had just welcomed in May of that year.
Eight months later, Ciara began dating Wilson, who had announced his divorce from his wife of two years, Ashton Meem, a year prior.
In July 2015, Future opened up about his split with the “Goodies” singer and claimed that differing viewpoints with the singer’s new music plans and their wedding caused issues.
The “Bugatti” rapper shared in his docuseries, “Like I Never Left,” at the time that Ciara allegedly didn’t give him a “chance” to take part on an album she had in the works, which he found “a little weird” since they were still in a relationship.
Future also claimed they argued about when to get married because he wanted to hold off until he was in a better place in his career.
“‘I can’t have these media outlets covering my wedding … I’m not comfortable with where I am at in my career, I’m not comfortable about compromising,’” he allegedly told Ciara.
In January 2016, the exes’ co-parenting issues came to light when Future took to Twitter and blasted his child’s mother, writing, “This bitch got control problems . . . I gotta go through lawyers to see babyfuture . . . the f - - kery for 15K a month.”
Ciara then sued the “Low Life” rapper for $15 million, citing slander and libel. However, the case was dropped shortly after.
Ciara and Wilson tied the knot in July 2016, and the “1,2 Step” singer reached a custody agreement with her ex less than a year later.
All seemed to go well for a while until Ciara called out Future for not making enough time to see their son in April 2018. In early 2019, the “Life Is Good” rapper threw shade at Wilson, telling Beats 1 Radio, “He does exactly what she tells him to do. He not being a man in that position.
“You not tellin’ her, ‘Bro, chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband! You better not even bring Future’s name up!’”
However, Future appeared to backtrack a few months later, telling another radio station, “We don’t have no problems. It’s a social media problem. No, I don’t hate him. Totally not the deal.”
“It was just the way we were carrying it, as far as being handled with baby Future. I don’t have nothing against [Wilson] and I’m happy for them.”
Ciara and Wilson share two kids of their own, Sienna Princess, 6, and Win, 2. Their reps could not immediately be reached for comment on Future’s apparent new diss.
