Tyler ICU opens up about his near-death experience

South African Amapiano star Tyler ICU, real name Austin Baloyi is grateful to be alive and making hits. The producer and DJ took to his social media to thank fans for their support after his song, Mnike, made history.

“Thank you so much,” he wrote on Twitter. “I think I had [to] thank you guys yet [again] for being so such great supporters in my career. This is life changing. Not only to ME, but also the people involved in the songs.

“Mostly thank God cause I wouldn’t be here today. Those who know that at the beginning of the year I had it bad and I was nearly gone from this world,” Tyler ICU wrote.

The Ngimoja hitmaker was involved in a car accident in December.

According to The Yanos Magazine, Tyler ICU achieved a remarkable milestone when Mnike become the fastest song ever to reach 3 million streams on Spotify South Africa in just 31 days.

The hit song features Tumelo_za, DJ Maphorisa, Nandipha808, Ceeka RSA, and Tyrondee.

TimesLIVE also reported on Friday, 7 July, that the track is holding strong at number one for eight consecutive weeks, according to The Official South African Charts (Tosac) which recognises digital streaming numbers of singles aggregated from Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube Music.
